PLAYPLAYFUN'S IMPRESSION ON QUAD MAZE:
This review is based on the latest update of the game which is V4.3.
Quad Maze started out to be one of the most difficult puzzle platformer games that I have ever played. However, with the new update, the difficulty level is slightly more tolerable for more casual players. This is largely due to the improvement of the jump mechanic, which is easier and more consistent to pull off (see below).
Having said that it's simpler, however, the game still requires patience and good timing in order to pass the levels. You can't expect to just blast through the levels by randomly jumping and running around haphazardly without planning and waiting. That will get you killed immediately as the obstacles are plenty.
There are a few inconsistencies that I would need to point out in this game. For example:
The square can perform triple and even quadruple jumps if it is standing next to a certain white wall. The problem is, not all white wall allows you to do this*update V4.7.3 seems to eliminate this issue- Checkpoint box is black in color and looks like an obstacle. It should be colored differently from the obstacle blocks
- If you get squashed by white platform, it will go right through you. However, to be fair, it seems this is part of the gameplay design.
Overall, Quad Maze has become a lot more playable with the new version. It's still difficult, but it is no too difficult to the point of frustration. It would be easy for me to recommend this game for a larger audience especially the genre fans!
